Dr Hotchin transitions to a focus on gynaecology and women’s health

Dr Hotchin has been providing specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology care in Geelong since 1999, across both public and private settings.

2026 marks a significant milestone in her clinical journey, as she steps away from maternity care after 26 years supporting families through pregnancy and birth. She now looks forward to focusing on gynaecology and women’s health in the years ahead.

Throughout her career, Dr Hotchin has been deeply committed to delivering care that blends both the art and science of medicine. She has valued the continuity of care she has been able to provide to many families, with these relationships being a source of great professional and personal fulfilment.

With a similarly patient-centred approach to gynaecology, Dr Hotchin will continue to offer personalised care — both independently and as part of a team — for a range of conditions affecting women and gender-diverse people assigned female at birth (AFAB), including:

  • Menstrual conditions
  • Pelvic pain
  • Abnormal cervical screening (colposcopy and treatment)
  • Pelvic organ prolapse (surgical and non-surgical management)
  • Reproductive health, including fast-access IUD provision and unplanned pregnancy care
  • Vulvovaginal disorders
  • Sexual pain

Dr Hotchin is a former Divisional Medical Director of Women’s Services at University Hospital Geelong (2005–2011), where she contributed to the development of the MGP Program, multidisciplinary maternity education, and fetal monitoring education. She also played a role in the early teaching of women’s health at Deakin Medical School.

She remains actively involved in training both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students at University Hospital Geelong and St John of God Geelong.

Dr Hotchin is a practice principal at Avonlea Clinic alongside Dr Marilla Druitt, and together with Dr Vidhu Krishnan, provides a comprehensive general gynaecological service. She continues to participate in peer review with colleagues across the region and, as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, maintains a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
